NPCB issued a notification regarding the Utilization & Management of Waste Tyre Rules

EHS ComplianceThe Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) on August 22, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Utilization & Management of Waste Tyre Rules.

It is stated that the utilization and management of waste tyre shall be in accordance to the provisions contained in Schedule IX of Rule 9 (4) of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2022. The provisions of this Schedule shall be applicable to the following entities, namely: - i) producers; ii) recycler of waste tyre; and iii) retreader.

Therefore, the entities mentioned above are directed to immediately apply for registration on the portal developed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CРСВ) (https://eprtyres.cpcb.gov.in/). Also, the entities operating in the state are directed to apply for consent/renewal of consent from the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCВ). 

Action will be initiated as per the relevant section of the Environmental Acts & Rules against illegal recycling/retreading operations by the operators who do not have valid consent to operate from the NPCB, and are operating without registration on the Waste Tyre EPR Portal of CPCB.
